Texas LTC Instructor & NRA Training Counselor and Firearms Instructor
Texas License To Carry LTC - This consists of 4-6 hours in a classroom reviewing guidelines provided by Texas DPS for License to Carry or LTC ( formerly known as CHL) Program under the authority of the Texas Government Code Chapter 411, Subchapter H. Following the classroom portion is a written test as well as a shooting proficiency test. DPS licenses individuals to carry c handguns within Texas, evaluates the eligibility of applicants through criminal history background checks and monitors those currently licensed to ensure their continued eligibility. This is NOT a class to teach you to shoot. If you are not completely proficient with your handgun please contact me to arrange a beginner or refresher class prior to taking this class.
Refuse To Be a Victim- The seminar includes classroom instruction on a variety of crime prevention strategies, from criminal psychology to automobile crimes to cyber crime. Seminars can vary in length, and may be modified to suit the needs of a particular audience. This is not a firearms instruction course, and does not include instruction in physical combat self-defense. Strategies include home security, carjack avoidance techniques, cyber safety, and use of personal safety devices. A complete seminar may last as long as eight hours and include the entire lesson plan, but a modified seminar may be as short as 90 minutes and address a specific topic.
NRA Basic Pistol Class- This class covers everything about pistols starting at step one! I start with different kinds of pistols, the different parts and calibers, how to grip them correctly, fire them properly, clean them, store them, even how to buy the correct pistol for you.
NRA Basic Shotgun Class- This class covers all the basics about shooting a shotgun including the different types, parts, gauges, stance, sights, firing, cleaning as well as information about what might be best for you.
Personal Protection In the Home-This follows the NRA standard of teaching the basic knowledge, skills and attitude essential for the safe and proper use of a handgun for self defense of both you and your family in the home. You will learn to use concealment and "cover" in your home as well as shooting from multiple positions. This is not a beginner course and the NRA requires the Basic Pistol Class before attending this class. Expect to need about 100 rounds of ammunition and 9-10 hours (split into two days if needed).
Personal Protection Outside the Home- This is a more advanced class that is designed to follow the personal protection in the home course. In this course you will learn safe and efficient use of your concealed handgun for self defense outside of your home. Students are required to bring their own pistol, holster, a place for additional magazines or speed loaders as well as some type of concealment vest or garment. The video clip directly below shows one drill taught during this class.
